Mike will be hosting a practice dedicated to the experience of Restorative & Yin Yoga. Both of these practices are still, introspective & deeply nourishing with all the postures performed for 3-5 minutes from a lying down or seated position with the support of props such as bolsters, blocks & blankets.
Restorative Yoga places the body into a deeply relaxing position that helps to stimulate the para-sympathetic nervous system which is activated during states of sleep & meditation. This can help us to restore a sense of balance when our often very busy and hectic lives heighten stress and tension.
Yin Yoga places the body into deep static stretches that help to stimulate the deeper connective tissues & fascia and can be very powerful in releasing tension to the hips, hamstrings & lower spine. Yin yoga is a wonderful compliment to more active forms of practice (eg Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga or Finyasa flow) and to other forms of exercise such as running, swimming or cycling.
Mike will guide you through a sequence that interweaves both practices in a safe, enjoyable & deeply nourishing way. Modifications & alternatives will be given for each pose and the practice will conclude with a peaceful Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) leaving you feeling calm & grounded for the weekend.
This workshop is open to all levels from absolute beginners to experienced practitioners.
