“If you hear a voice within you say, “you cannot paint,” then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.” Vincent Van Gogh

It is well known that through the physical practise of yoga we can open ourselves up. Whether this means improving our physical flexibility, letting go of restrictive thought patterns or allowing ourselves to be more vulnerable and compassionate in our relationships, it is clear that the way we behave on the mat can have a huge impact on the way we behave in the rest of our life.

In this workshop we will explore the link between yoga and art . We will begin by opening ourselves up through a physical yoga (asana) practise led by Nicole Donaldson. The class will focus on the use of space and shape and encourage you to approach familiar postures from a different perspective. By the end of the practise your creative energy will be awakened and we will then begin to explore the use of shape and space in creating our own artwork.

The second part of the workshop will be led by Danny Lidyard- a qualified art teacher and trainee yoga teacher who will share some of his techniques into creating your own piece of artwork through the medium of collage. Afterwards we will share our artwork and some tasty vegan treats while we learn about how our creations can give us an insight into our inner state of being and identify what may be holding us back.

“Give what you can. Take what you need.”
