Monica Burr

Monica has spent her whole life doing movement. For fun, work and healing.

Born in Vancouver Canada, she began ballet training at 10 years old. Performed Classical Ballet for two years then re-trained in Modern Dance, performing all over the world with the Toronto Dance Theatre.

When a herniated disc ended her dance career in 1992 Monica trained in a Postural Alignment Technique called the Mitzvah Technique (MT), very similar to the Alexander Technique. Teaching the MT full time in Toronto for 15 years.

After moving to Manchester 5 years ago from Canada Monica now offers private sessions in Remedial/Therapeutic Massage and the Mitzvah Technique. In 1984, to help release pressure from a conditioned ballet body, Monica found Yoga and has been practicing ever since. Trying various styles to match varied needs of injury and age. Ashtanga in the younger and fitter times, now to learn anatomical details and the quieter, more therapeutic forms when injured and as the years add up!

Monica’s therapeutic, meditative style yoga classes are influenced by her dance, alignment and anatomy training.
