Jo started practising Pilates over ten years ago after the birth of her 2nd child. She was amazed at the transformative power of Pilates. She was struck by the sense of well being, strength and relaxed calm Pilates gave her and her previous back problems disappeared.
In 2006 she started her Pilates mat work training. She taught and practised Pilates throughout the pregnancy of her third child and once again the strength and awareness Pilates gave were invaluable during the pregnancy, birth and post natal period. It was at this point she did further training in ante and post natal Pilates with the Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institute.
Jo aims to stay true to Joseph Pilates original intention for his method to:
“ develop the body uniformly, correct wrong postures, restore physical vitality, invigorate the mind and elevate the spirit”.
She also ensures her classes are fun, relaxed and yet effective; encouraging everyone no matter what age, fitness level or physical capability to experience Pilates practice in a mindful way.
Jo constantly seeks to enhance her own practice, knowledge and teaching by attending workshops with renowned Pilates elders and teacher trainers such as Lolita San Miguel, Alan Herdman, Julian Littleford, Michael King, Malcolm Muirhead, Kathy Corey and Nuala Coombs.
She is currently deepening her knowledge by studying for a Comprehensive Studio Equipment and Rehabilitation Diploma with Polestar Pilates.
