May Molteno

I fell in love with movement and dance when I was 25 years old. For the next five years I studied instant composition in workshops across Europe with a teacher called Julyen Hamilton and here in Manchester I danced the 5 Rhythms dance with my teacher Alex Mackay. Dancing made me feel vibrantly alive and I had a sense it was helping me to become more myself.

I performed with an improvising dance and music company called Grace and Danger and taught a 'making art' dance composition class for adults in Manchester. I found myself getting really interested in story and its links to the body and dance.

When my daughter, Isla, was born, three years ago, I stopped dancing but carried on rocking, singing and telling stories! I've become entranced by how children move and how they absolutely love stories. I wanted to create a place where I could dance with Isla and make stories with our movements. I wanted a gentle dance / theatre workshop that would help children feel confident and excited about movement. So I thought I'd start a monthly workshop: Moving Kids.

Read more about the workshop, dates and times on the attached flyer. You need to book a place on a workshop and come ready to move with your child! There'll be tea and snacks at the end.
