Jane Craggs

I have been teaching in Manchester since 2001, when I relocated from Madrid to set up Yogaspace, a studio in Manchester and subsequently, Manchester Yoga Shala, a yoga collective.

My life is firmly rooted in the classical 8 limbed path of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras which present yoga as a way of life, honouring the cultivation of health, harmony and eventually transcendence.

I have been very fortunate to have studied with many inspirational teachers in the West, most influentially, Donna Farhi, whose work continues to enliven and inform my practice, and I regularly visit India to reconnect to the source of the classical teachings.

My classes work primarily to liberate the breath thus optimising health on all levels. This is done through integration of breath with gentle vinyasa (sequences), supported restorative postures, pranayama (breathing exercises) and Mantra(sound). I have a strong interest in the therapeutic applications of yoga and combine general classes with one to one sessions as well as working with specific organisations to bring yoga to those who may not otherwise have exposure to it. I believe that yoga should be accessible to all who wish to re capture the "wholeness" of their life and welcome students of all ages and physical ability.

I will be on sabbatical in India from Sept2009-March 2010. Gaby Porter will be taking on my classes until further notice. If you would like to study with me I will be teaching in West Bengal in November (see janecraggs.co.uk for details). I wish all of my students much love and contentment over the coming months and look forward to seeing you again next year!! Hari Om Tat Sat.
