For me, yoga is nourishing, soothing and balancing. Through my practice, I have a sense of being ‘at home’ in my body and in my self.

Yoga has created the space for me to explore and connect with my body and my breath. It gives me stability, ease and vitality. When I practice yoga, I feel centred and settled. The practice has enriched me, both personally and professionally. As I move from my mat and step out into the world, I am more present and aware, and ready to engage with the demands of modern life.

I have studied Iyengar yoga; Ashtanga yoga with John and Lucy Scott; more recently, with Donna Farhi. Donna’s work focuses on fundamental natural movement principles and the integration of breath and movement. I completed an advanced teacher training intensive with Donna in January 2008.

I believe that everyone can benefit from yoga whatever their motivation, physical ability or state of mind. Through yoga we can discover and cultivate our quieter side. It calls on us to let go of striving and achievement: ‘not seeking to arrive anywhere except the present moment’. Through practising yoga, we become both alert and relaxed.
