Emma Lloyd

My journey in yoga began in 1991, I am a qualified British Wheel of yoga teacher and Foundation Course Level 1 Tutor, and Thai Yoga Massage Therapist.
My teaching experience is broad and varied and I have worked in the UK and South East Asia. Over the past 10 years I have specialised in developing and delivering educational yoga for children in primary and secondary mainstream and SEN schools, involving the development of yoga therapy for behaviour management, specialised yoga sessions for autistic children, integrated sessions for parents and children, workshops and training for school teachers, after school clubs and the designing of yoga based playground areas that are now present in several national schools.
Through my experience of teaching yoga to children I have developed a strong understanding of the positive effect applied educational yoga can have in a child's life. I also teach several weekly adult yoga sessions.
My teaching style is influenced by the Iyengar and Satyananda Yoga schools emphasising precision and detail in practice along with classical breathing and meditation techniques.
In 2009 I received Jignasu Initiation and Diksha (spiritual name initiation) from Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati from the Satyananda School of yoga based in Rikhia Peeth India.
My aim is to share the beauty of the science of yoga with all sectors of the community including children with a view to encouraging better physical, spiritual, emotional and social health whilst remaining true to the essence of the yogic discipline.
