Darren Deojee

I have been engaged in passionate and pro-active personal/spiritual development since my early teens. I came to yoga late in this journey, but bring all my experience of other systems to bear in my classes. My biggest influences are ‘the big guys’ – Christ, Buddha, Patanjali, Don Juan, Theun Mares, The Tibetan (via Alice Bailey), Vee Van Dam, Chogyam Trumpa and many more.

My objective is to help develop ‘the rest of yoga’ in Manchester because most people seem obsessed with postures and neglect the rest in their practice, missing all the extra benefits on offer. (there are 8 ‘limbs’ to yoga: asana is one, but it gets the briefest mention of them all in the yoga sutras! Worth pondering!)

I teach on a wide range of yogic and related subjects including meditation, perception, sound (mantra) & language, the subtle bodies, gender & relationships, social conditioning, and more.

I am involved with The Yoga Rooms, The Yoga Shala and am on the committee of MADYA (Manchester & District Yoga Association). I teach in Manchester, Edinburgh, London, at festivals, and also by invitation to private yoga circles and studios. I tend to focus more on workshops than classes.
